Polignano a Mare
Covering an area of 6.3 kmq on a roughly triangular promontory, rising vertically from the Adriatic Sea, Polignano a Mare is a small town characterised by coves, inlets and caves. Inhabited since the Palaeolithic age, Polignano a Mare offers visitors two outlooks. Firstly the sea and beautiful natural caves which attracted the first inhabitants. Secondly the fertile country side, covered in typical Mediterranean vegetation and dotted with archaeological sites, testimony to what Polignano has been and continues to be, a vibrant and dynamic centre. Today Polignano presents to the visitors, who constantly arrive, as a small town with great potential due to the conservation of its history and culture. The typical local cuisine is based around fish.

Ostuni

Ostuni
Known as the “White City” because of the white painted buildings of the historic centre. This is definitely a place not to miss. This is a meeting place for friends old and new, young and old, lovers of nightlife and places to enjoy and relax. To immerse yourself in the large historic centre is an experience of times past. With such a richness of restaurants, trattorie, bars and ice-cream parlours the choice becomes difficult. Ostuni is a fascinating labyrinth of narrow twisting streets, a succession of courtyards, small squares and little lanes leading to one of the five gates which led out of the fortified wall of the city. There is only one road that leads to the top of the hill and divides the historic centre in two, the “Via Cattedrale”. All intersecting roads are either cul de sacs or end in steep narrow steps. Here can be found cubical dwellings excavated into the solid rock, supported by arches and buttresses, also palaces decorated with family crests and a variety of doorways in different styles, some showing remains of gold decoration. These large buildings offer welcome shade from the blinding whiteness of the labyrinth. Finally at the top of the hill, rises the Cathedral, a wonderful combination of roman, gothic and Venetian architecture which dominates the plains of olive trees which stretch to the sea.

Lecce

Lecce

Antique markets enrich this picturesque city. Highly recommended is a visit to the restaurant “ La Torre di Merlino” which offers the finest local cuisine and impeccable service.

Cisternino

Cisternino
A beautiful small town, rich in history and traditions, it is situated a few minutes from Trulli Country Farmhouse. Ideal for a relaxing evening , sampling the delicious local cuisine, or enjoying the friendly welcome in one of the many open-air bars in the historic centre. During the day, Cisternino offer a vast selection of cultural destinations. Lose yourself in the enchanting and historic centre. To get a feel of the local inhabitants one needs to first study their houses and streets. Here the close proximity of the buildings, in some cases almost touching, is a direct pointer to the closeness of the local inhabitants. The small houses clustered together, crawling up the hill, present a pristine façade all painted white. Single floored they offer touches of baroque, renaissance and oriental. The staircases, often on the outside, give an exotic touch, joining with the baroque and renaissance influences, in a slightly unsophisticated manner. However, the whole blends together due to the uniform whiteness of the houses. White predominates: white houses, white streets, white squares, reflecting the temperament of the local inhabitants.
